EASTER

Spring is here and everything is green or blooming as the forsythia fades and the liliacs take over:)We have apple and cherry trees in bloom and pollen everywhere:) Our fields are a quilt of greens, yellow (?mustard) and browns (ready to plant corn) and we get to see tractors everyday in the fields;) Easter is quite the holiday in Germany with stores closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday (and always on Sunday)and the school kids out for the two weeks. The plastic eggs were on trees and bushes 6 weeks ago before the blossoms and leaves appeared and garlands of evergreens and eggs are made into "fountains"..... Easter evening and Monday evening were Easter Fires in many of our small villages. Ours was Sunday nite and huge: 20' X 30' X 15' with many people walking from their homes or driving over to the field where the bonfire was roaring:) Long, straight poles were given out with bread dough wrapped around the end to "bake" over coals... and small, flat pieces of marshmellows were also available;) It was a lovely tradition to discover in our area:)
