GERMANY:)

It is so hard to believe that we have been in Germany almost 9 months.... time flies when you are having fun:) Many things are becoming part of our everyday life and I don't want to forget how special they are or unique... I still love the tile roofs and now know they are not all red and come both flat or rippled... as you can see in the picture of the 2 types of tiles side by side on a house next door to us. We sing the Star Splangled Banner before our movie on base and have yellow ribbons tied on every tree and pole. When we first arrived the base seemed very quiet and we discovered most of the soldiers were deployed/ down range to Iraq or Afganistan. As the soldiers started to return, the families covered the fences with banners, many homemade, to welcome them home. We might not like/agree with the war but we surely appreciate the hard job that the soldies and their families have to do and do feel the patriotism everywhere. The base is very crowded now and getting a parking place for the post office or commissary can be a frustrating event:) We are still discovering that every small town in our area is so picturesque;) They are all unique but have the church, half-timbered homes and usually part of a medieval wall/gate.... We got off the autobahn onto a side road to miss congestion and saw a cute little town that we need to go back and explore and it happens all the time:)
We still really love our rural area with fields now being plowed and planted or green growth starting for a summer crop. Our Spring has Sprung and seems so much like Oregon: lots of forsythia, daffodils, tulips, star magnolia trees etc... LOVE IT ALL!!!
