DRESDEN 2

We had a great apartment that overlooked the Frauenkirche church while in Dresden. Inside on the high alter of the church is the Cross of Nails from Dresden's sister city, Coventry, which was bombed as thoroughly as Dresden.... and both cities now promote peace and reconciliation. The original Frauenkirche dome cross, now known as the twisted old cross, was discovered under the rubble in 1993 and stands inside the church. The new cross on the church dome was crafted by an English coppersmith whose father dropped bombs on Frauenkirch on Feb. 13, 1945. Dresden seems much like the phoenix rising from the ashes..... We always enjoy the German beds with the big square pillows and comforters and Dale liked the TV with American movies:) The German breakfasts are a great way to start the day:)
