KITZBUHEL, AUSTRIA
Leaving Gmund and the Porsche Museum on Saturday, September 15th, we had the fun experience of putting the Porsche on a train for a 15 minute ride through the mountains toward Kirzbuhel... a ski resort that we had heard of over the years:) Leaving home in the rain and having the weather get better and better as we kept going was a treat....when we got to Kitzbuhel we could see the hills all around us but not any mountain peaks. We stayed in a classic 1878 home renovated into a lovely hotel and enjoyed walking the streets and eating at an outdoor, heated Italian restaurant... as usual:)
The next morning we awoke to a lovely clear day and taking the gondola from the town center we saw... the Alps:) Joining the many locals and tourists for a walk on top of the hills was just perfect.
The contrast of the green fields, darker pine forests and the dusting of new snow on the Alp peaks was as lovely as you can imagine!! When we left Kitzbuhel we took a back road and ended up at the resort we had driven to in Feb. for an European Angle Orthodontic meeting... pleasant surprize. Hope we can come back and ski in the winter:)
