SICILY:)

The photo to the right is of Mt Etna, largest volcano in Europe and on the east coast of Sicily...the picture is taken from Taormini, where the Greeks built a large amphitheather which remains in amazing condition with a view of the mountain and the Mediterranean...I wonder why they located these places so far up the mountain and apparently so hard to get to in those days..maybe you had your slaves carry you up when necessary...and here we are again, seafood and pasta (and VINO) our last night near Palermo on the seaside in a small Italian restaurant overlooking the water..while in Sicily we also visited Corleone, the birthplace of Vito Corleone, of "godfather" fame in the movies. Not too dramatic really, but the feeling was strong and the intrigue huge that he could have been there in the 20's while a boy ..we bought some old photos of the town from those long past days.... We'll always remember our long Labor Day weekend in Sicily:)
