DAD MOFFAT IN EUROPE:)

Before we left Frankfurt for Copenhagen on Labor Day weekend, I forgot to mention we went back to Wiesbaden where both our dads were stationed with the Air Force in the early 1960's. We toured the housing area where we lived, saw our old high school which is in the midst of remodeling for becoming Army headquarters Europe and just enjoyed sharing with Dad where he spent time both in the 1960's and again 1973-1979 when he was a civilian working for the Air Force.... just like Dale is now for the Army:) In Copenhagen we loved the view from our hotel of Tivoli Gardens which was founded in 1843. We toured the lovely gardens, looked at people enjoying the rides and ate dinner there. Walt Disney toured Tivoli in 1950 and this inspired him to create Disneyland;) We had wonderful food everywhere BUT the Smorresbord open face sandwiches I remembered from the 1960's were very difficult to find;( We took a train ride to Roskilde which is the original home of the Danish kings and has a wonderful Viking Ship Museum. The 5 ships were only recently discovered after having been deliberately sunk in the harbor 1000 years ago. Besides the excavated ships the museum builds viking ships, makes rope and iron pieces for the boats using the original methods.
