It worked out well that Michelle and Shams had to come back a day early from Prague as it gave us more time in our village of Sachsen and the area. They got to see the Falcon Show at Schillingfurst and while we saw a snow owl as part of the show they got to see a bald eagle!! We enjoyed our covered BBQ area and Dale used his grill for the first time as we sampled 2 different kinds of bratwurst, 3 kinds of sauerkraut, Suzanne's recipe of hot potato salad and MUCH MORE:) Friday we took off for the pretty town of Bacharach on the Rhine river. We stayed at the very picturesque half timbered Gast Haus with steep grape covered slopes all around us;) We walked up to the Stahleck castle that is now a youth hostel and took a Rhine river cruise to St. Goar. On the cruise we could see castles, ruins and the legendary Loreley outcropping that reduces the river's width by one quarter....the Loreley was a water sprite who bewitched boatmen with her beauty and songs thus leading their vessels to disaster:)
