WURZBURG

We spent Dale's birthday saturday in our new favorite city (always the one we are visiting at the time:) Wurzburg is situated on the Main river with the Marienberg Fortress on the hill and is the start of the Romantic Road. From the 1200-1700's the fortress was the home of the Prince Bishops until they built the beautiful Baroque Residenz/Palace that has been a UNESCO site since 1981. The view from the fortress of the bridge over the Main and the many church steeples of Wurzburg is lovely. We celebrated Dale's birthday in a very good sushi restaurant which brought back memories of sushi in all our other favorite places:) Japan, Portland, Colorado Springs, Santa Barbara, Rothenburg and ALL!!!
