ROTHENBERG FOR LUNCH

We got home from Bamberg Saturday afternoon and worked around the house to end the day..our Sunday started with a little sleeping in, a breakfast at the "mess hall" and then a short 30 minute drive to Rothenberg for a late lunch with one of the new dentists in our clinic. They are from CA but of Japanese background, so they wanted us to join them at a sushi restaurant. Seemed like a good idea, even though we would be in one of the best post-medieval walled cities in Germany. The first photo is taken in the town square, the second is the recognized multi-level streets in the town and the third is the restaurant with its Japanese flag flying outside. Rothenberg is such a great place if you had only one spot to visit to see "old Germany". It has a wall around it that can be used for most of the perimeter; it is also popular enough to have numerous shops, sights, eateries, hotels and churches so that you could come here and get a taste of it all...and if you wanted a souvenir of any kind, it is here....We had a great lunch, an all you can eat buffet for 12 euros..and of course I had a German beer, Kay had Japanese Asahi. It is sure amazing to have such an iconic German town so close. We also enjoyed the Porsche on the back roads to get there. This next weekend we have our first US visitors..the Hammmerstads from Lake Oswego..the rest of you are welcome too...so come on over!
