ESCAPE TO SWITZERLAND

We took off for Switzerland on Wednesday morning about 10AM and had a great drive down..went thru Ulm and Memingen and toward the border. We took a side trip to Tettnang just as we approached Austria and the east end of the Bodensee(Lake Constance to the Swiss). That was where our daughter Suzanne visited for her high school exchange a few years ago...took pics of her school and the town for her. Then a few more minutes to Lindau with the old city on the island in the lake and to the tower with Rupunsil's hair trailing down (middle photo). We then passed into Austria for a few minutes,continued south on the Autobahn along the Lichtenstein border and arrived in Chur, Switzerland late afternoon.(third photo) The weather was absolutely beautiful, blue sky and mountains all around. Closeby are the ski areas (Davos, Arosa, Flims to name a few) Everyone is into summer sports and the towns are filled with bikers, hikers, trekers, campers etc. We walked Chur (old walled city at the base of the Alps)and had a great meal on a little balcony overlooking the happennings there. We took the Porsche on this trip..lots of fun and luckily a small car because any wider and we would likely have taken paint off on both sides as we left Chur and drove up into the mountains and over the passes well above timberline. And the views...WOW. The photos don't nearly do them justice. We got up early and took a walk around town before climbing straight up the little road out of Chur and headed for St Moritz.
