CRUISING:) VENICE

We have had a few times over the years to see Venice after visiting it in the 60's while in Wiesbaden... but always thought it would be too crowded, dirty etc and decided not to make the trip. We rediscovered Venice as we went on a Costa Cruise of the Greek Islands/Croatia 5/28 for a week that left from Venice... we LOVED IT:) Probably not as crowded as later in the summer and was it was wonderfully unique with the vaporetto (water bus) going the "main street" of the Grand Canal. Just seeing the old palaces, gondolas and famous Rialto Bridge reminded us of how special Venice is.. still today:) We didn't make it to St. Mark's square but will visit Venice again in a week with Michelle and Shams.. can't wait;) We drove down in 6 1/2 hours and spend the night on the Vincenza army base and then left our car on base for the week... no worries:) The bus and train trip into Venice worked well and we were able to check our bags at the train station for the cruise, yea:) Like Venice, the cruise turned out to be even better than expected due to the great sights we were able to enjoy!!!
