UNDERWOODS 6/13:)

Debbie and Bill Underwood, the Godparents of Suzanne and Michelle, were able to visit us for 2 weekends... going to Prague in between:)  The weather was very rainy with record flooding in Europe:(  But we always have a good time together and this was no exception!   They were our last visitors and we enjoyed again seeing some of our favorite places with them.  The first weekend we had lunch in Munchen at the Hofbrau Haus (brats and beer... what's not to like:) on the way to Garmisch.  We only caught a glimpse of the mountain peaks but had a lovely dinner at the Wild Schutz traditional restaurant. On Sunday we drove to Linderhof, one of King Ludwig's castle... we saw it 50 years ago while in high school in Wiesbaden:)   It was wonderful: lovely grounds, a great tour of the small but special Schloss, a tour of the grotto where Ludwig had his favorite Wagner operas played:)    Had a very difficult drive home on Sunday with so much rain and even some road closures.   The next weekend we drove to the Rhine and spent the night in Bacharach.  WOW, the Rhine had flooded and they had just opened up the town that day... and the road was still underwater to St. Goar.   Amazing to see all the water, how difficult it was for the barges to go up river and how the stone homes were use to pumping the river water out of their basements!!   We then drove to Wiesbaden (the red brick church with Deb and Bill) and shared our high school, housing area and our favorite high school memories.  They stayed in Wiesbaden a couple of days before leaving from FRA and Oregon... went drove home for Dale to work on Monday;)
