MOSEL 2

We spent the night in the village of Billstein, one of Rick Steves favorite places..and in the hotel he loves. You can see our balcony in the center of the photo with the red flowers..click on the pictures to make them bigger...We had dinner on the terrace to the right amongst the trees and grapevines...It was some local wine, the house plate and a beautiful sunset behind the hills on the other side of the river. You can see me on our balcony before dinner and there is the castle above the river and the village..We had an afternoon wine tasting in the Felsenkeller and had a wonderful time overall...back the next morning from Koblentz to Ansbach in about 3 hours via Autobahn.

How cute! Sure do envy you doing all this! What memories you will have. And to go back to some places you were at 50 years ago is just awesome. I would love to be able to do that! Are you following the Rick Steves tour book for some of your travels? So many neat places within driving distance of your home town. What a book this is all going to make!

Your trip down the Mosel brought back a lot of memories. Dad was stationed at Hahn (I was a dormie at Wiesbaden) which is very near the Mosel. Jack Jamison, Sally Minich, Joy Levy, I and others from Hahn spent a lot of time in the Mosel towns, particularly Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach.

Thanks as always for your lovely comments, Sandy:) We are very blessed to be here and able to discover new places and rediscover places that we saw +40 years ago!! Dale did make a typo on the great place we spent the nite: Beilstein was a favorite of Rick Steve's (who we do often follow:) and our friend Cathy Vorhies...now our favorite too!! Take care everyone, our best wishes to you and yours:)
