We took a little trip on last Sunday. About 3o minutes west of our home on the Autobahn, we turned north for a quick jaunt to the Jagst river which we reached at Dorzbach. From there we had a very nice drive thru the valleys along the river until we reached the point it joins the Neckar. That is where the first photo was taken (Bad Wimpfen). The whole Altstadt (old town) was spectacular with the castle tower and numerous old houses with the beam and stucco architecture. We continued north along the Neckar and saw one castle or castle ruin after another...the weather was great and the drive in the Porsche was fun. The second photo is of one of th castles that we were able to climb to the top of the tower and look down on the river very far below. We soon arrived in Heidelburg at the huge and spectacular castle on the hill overlooking the city. They have a show, "burning of the castle" during the summer months..also has the world's largerst wine barrel in the cellar..The Neckar flows further north a bout 20 miles where it joins the Rhein River before they both head to the North Sea...from there we rejoined the Autobahn and were home for dinner....
