MORE CASTLES

The photos are more of the castles we saw on our mini trip north of our home...the first here is Plassenburg, the photo being the inside courtyard. We had a great private tour since we were the only English speaking tourists at that moment. You can see the detail of the three story walkway surrounding the center section, and inside there were lots of interesting furniture pieces and weaponry from the 11th tru the 17th centuries. This town was Kulmbach which we then left for a few miles north to Kronach. It was also up on the top of the hill, as you see in the second photo of the castle wall and the village below.This is one of the largest fortresses in Germany and was interestingly enough, never conquered. The last photo is from the Coberg castle at a didtance and again on the top of a hill. It is one of the best preserved castles in Germany and was a location that Martin Luther retreated to to escape the wrath of the Pope when he started the Reformation. We finished up and headed home, a two hour adventure on the Autobahn.
