BERLIN-MUSEUMS

Dale and I felt like we had many ties to Berlin even though I had not been there before this past weekend (10/9/10)....we remember WWII from our dad's sharing info and their being Air Force pilots, being stationed at Wiesbaden in the early 1960's and the building of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the visit of President Kennedy in 1963 and the reunification of Germany in 1990. Seeing this history was a real treat in Berlin and especially with a great Fall weekend of sunshine. We walked and walked and will have to go back to see more and also see many things again. The museums were outstanding both the buildings and then the art inside. Museum Island has 5 fantastic museums including the building built like a Greek temple (picture) that houses Impressionist art to the Egyptian museum with Queen Nefferti and my favorite, the Pergamon with the Pergamon Altar, a Greek temple/altar from Turkey and the Babylon Ishtar Gate. Then there were great paintings in the Gemaldegalarie Gallery as you can see and many, many more museums that were all unique and special. We did get "museumed out" but it was worth it:) Hope this finds you and yours doing well!! Take care, Kay
