RONDA, SPAIN:)

We left Gibraltar in our fun mini-cooper (click on the picture to enlarge it and see the Rock in the distance;) to climb the hills to see the whitewashed Andalucia towns perched on the hilltops. We spent the night in Ronda at a lovely, remodeled, British owned, old farm compound. After a day of sightseeing we watched the turtles in the stream, relaxed by the pool, listened to the birds and had one of our favorite meals:) Ronda is spectacular as it staddles a gorge with a "new" bridge built in 1751 that connects the labyrinthine Moorish quarter to the newer Mercadilla area. It is also the home of modern bullfighting introduced by Francisco Romero in the early 1700's and the oldest bullring. Ronda is a lovely place to wander the narrow streets, climb down (and back up) to the narrow gorge and discover a church that was built in the 1400's over the main mosque which had been built over a temple to Julius Caesar!!!
