LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO- DEC. 2013
Driving west through Texas after Big Bend National Park, we enjoyed the changing scenery of desert, mesas, mesquite plants and wide open spaces:) We both had lived in New Mexico when our fathers were stationed there: Kay's in Albuquerque and Dale's in Las Cruces. Because the weather was still icy north of I-10, we didn't get to Albuquerque this time:( Dale was in Las Cruces, just over the Texas border from El Paso, in the first through third grades.... and was able to find the house they lived in with help from his parents ( last picture)! How fun to see the famous Organ Mountains
and going east over the mountains to White Sands AF base where Lee Rhoney worked. We both
enjoyed revisiting (after 50 years!) White Sands National Park (second picture) and then continued
on to Rosewell to visit the UFO museum:) And discovering that the area is know as the chili capital of the USA and getting chili powder was GREAT:)!! Now on to Tombstone, Arizona....
