MALTA 4
We had a great hotel in Malta, the Hilton. Here it is rated as a 5 star facility, and although really nice, the food was just outstanding...our breakfast each morning was a buffet feast, and we ate way too much each day. Saturday nite we had the "seafood buffet"..double wow! The view from our hotel room, over the pool and into the Mediterranean can be seen here. (dont forget to double click on the photos for more detail). The city(s) are all connected in and around the main harbor and houses and buildings are stacked wall to wall...it is the 4th most dense area in the world (supposedly) and reminded me of the photos we have all seen of Morroco, Algiers etc..same stone, same color same density from here to the horizon. I also liked the historical recount of St Paul's time on the island after his shipwreck here, while a captive of the Romans in 60AD, his imprisonment and then his continuation to Rome, where he was martyred (beheaded)..The center photo is one of the large painted depictions of his shipwreck, now in the dome of the church in Mdina. The last photo is Kay sitting on the wall overlooking one of the bays between the three cities around the harbor area...All in all, a great trip to a wonderfully historical area out in the middle of the Med.
