OBERSTDORF

The weekend of October 15 we drove south into southern Germany and to the base of the alps. On the way we stopped in Kempton at the ABT company that is famous for hot rod Audi cars..they have engine enhancements, wheels, performance chips, etc and have a good racing record here in Germany and at Nurburgring. The town of Oberstdorf is in Germany but close to the Austrian and Swiss borders. The Alps rise to the sky here and even in October, some snow was visible in the higher reaches. We had booked a room south of town and up into the higher elevation. We walked along the pathways to another gasthaus and had a wonderful and scenic lunch. The picture here is of our hotel and the other is looking out of our room toward one of the peaks about 5 Pm as the cows were making their way down the road from the higher meadows. The road to the south ends in Austria, but the only entry is through Germany...interesting and beautiful. This is a favorite ski area for the Germans and the town is filled with ski shops and has the usual charm we have come dto find everywhere we travel. We hope to return during ski season
