CHRISTMAS IN GRAN CANARIA:)

We really missed not being with the family this Christmas...
but we did take the holiday time to explore Gran Canaria,
one of the 7
Canary Islands.
The islands are Spanish but closer to Morocco than Spain and all
are volcanic in
origin:)
Leaving the cold in
Germany we did enjoy the mild,
sunny weather and the unique landscapes of the island.
We stayed in
the largest city of all
the islands, Las
Palmas,
which also
has a
Harbor for cruise ships and ferries and a 3
mile long beach with a
board walk lined with restaurants,
hotels and shops for all
the visiting tourists.
The coast is dry and varies from sandy beach,
volcanic hillsides plunging into the blue ocean and even large sand dunes (
Maspalomas area:).....
the climate and landscape really changed as we left the coast and started driving toward the top of the volcano as you will
see in
the next photos:)
