We traveled to Oberstdorf most of the way in the fog. The sight of the alps as they appeared when the fog lifted was awesome... another special area. So we walked the trails, appreciated the views from lakes and vistas, ate the local bratwurst and said again that we always forget how beautiful the Alps of Europe really are... Seeing cows with bells ringing as they walked from the fields to the barn brought back the memory of seeing them in Switzerland with our daughters in 2000. We also walked the Breitachklamm: a gorge over 300 feet deep with a catwalk along the edge that was another feat of German engineering.. So the weekend of Oct. 15 that Dale planned on his own for my birthday was a real treat for us both! You can see by the map the extent of the ski area here...Obertsdorf is in the bottom right (you can double click on the photos to get them bigger)..our hotel was up the hill from the double gondola to the left....just an idea of the area. All in all, another great adventure.
