The roads in Italy were the absoslute antithisis of those in Germany. And the Italian drivers !! Mama Mia! Nothing counts except guts and opportunity. Speed limit, no passing zones, staying in one's lane, right of way. Holy Rigamorti! Thank goodness our rental car was already totally "seasoned" with dents and scrapes on every surface. That is a picture of it taken from the hotel balcony and on down to the water. You can see what the main road through the town was like. And most of the cars were very small, like the 1960's Fiat 500 in the other photo. There were quite a few of these cars even now and the small three wheeled trucks too. Thank goodness we did not drive down from Germany in one of our cars. We did enjoy the difference however and even after the fourth day, we had not even used a half tank of gas. The other thing of note, not yet mentioned, was the food. Outstanding pasta and seafood. I had it for every meal except for a couple of great pizzas for lunches. Lastly, here is Kay in front of the Boy of Naples with Vesuvius in the background...only thing is, it was a mural in the airport that I used as a backdrop for this photo..BELLISSIMO!
