Last weekend we decided on a weekend trip and decided to go north and west...to Wiesbaden for an early lunch and a little Deja Vu (since we met there and went to high school together)We drove by the shopping center, the high school, and the places we lived (Aukamn for you WHSers), then on to Koln (Cologne) and the great cathedral. You can see it is on the Rhein and stands well above the German skyline there. Dating back to the 1248, reportedly houses the relics of the three MAGI, seen in the photo to the right, it is one of the world's largest gothic churches. We spent some time in the city and had a little snack at a german restaurant, the Toro Negro, as you can see in the other picture. This is the city that "invented" eau de cologne=toilet water and the famous "4711" brand which is still big and sold today. ( named after the address, 4711 Glockengasse) We then left to the south and ended up at Ramstein Air Force Base for the nite..sorry to say that the officer's club ws not open that evening...Weather was a little rainly on and off....Germany at its finest.
