ISCHGL, AUSTRIA:)

We had a great adventure over the Martin Luther King holiday! We were signed up for the Outdoor Rec. trip from the base which left friday morning in the 15 passenger vans for Ischgl, Austria. But found out on Monday that Dale would not get Friday, a Army training holiday, off:( So we decided to drive after work on Friday and stay in Reutte, Austria for the night as the hotel in Ischgl was on the ski slopes and the lift closed at 4pm... we would join the group on Sat. Getting to Reutte in the dark about 7pm we found out our hotel was listed in Reutte but actually 45 minutes away in Bach....the next morning it was great seeing the lovely snow covered valley's picturesque villages with traditional churches as we returned to Reutte to continue our drive to Ischgl. Taking the gondola Sat. morning and skiing to the hotel in the picture was a thrill as we tried to get our ski skills back;) As you can see the hotel was great and our dining room with mounted mountain goat heads (our tour guides and friends are in the front of the picture) was so Bavarian. BUT we stayed in the original lodge behind the newer hotel and it was like camping out with a roof over our heads:) They had replaced windows, front door, added bathrooms down the hall but most of our group slept with +4 other people in the room (they are young:) We had a room to ourselves, note the light bulb in the low ceiling, but the sloping floors and hearing every sound from the creaking floors and non-insulated walls was the adventure... wouldn't have missed it, but we'll never do it again:)
