WIESBADEN AND RUDESHEIM:)

We were back in the Wiesbaden area for a visit...as you saw in the blog before this, we were at a nearby cloister and Easter sale, then on to Rudesheim for lunch and then back to Wiesbaden (taking the back way) by way of the Rheinblick golf course that we remember so well. I used to play up there in the better weather with some of you class mates and also with my father. It was geat to find it again. I could not remember the clubhouse and the course setup, but some of the old building was still there and it is still being used by the US Forces. One of the ladies in the pro shop said it was now where the bar used to be...there is a new bar now at the other end of the building. We purchased a few momentos that were available and then headed down the hill back into town...We stayed at the Schwarzerbock Hotel, across from the once functioning Palast Hotel and just around the corner from the World's Largest Cuckoo Clock, seen here as the night was approaching. The Schwarzerbock is the longest running business still in Wiesbaden (a hotel since the mid 1400's)and the history is amazing....guests included Goethe, Dostoyevsky, royalty from almost every european nation and in 1963, President JFK...it is now a Radisson property and although pretty fancy, is showing its age from the last major re-do in 1957.
